2nd SEMIBIENNIAL SCAFUNJER HUNT OFFICIAL RULES
\\ Overview Each team will create a list, and will assign point values to each item on their list. A copy of their list will be distributed to each of the OTHER TEAMS. Each team will (obviously) not be able to gain points from items on THEIR OWN list. There are more details below, but if you have ANY questions, please email me here. \\ The Teams Your team can consist of up to four (4) members, anyone under the age of 2 does not count against this total. Please do not recruit an army of babies, they probably won't be of much help. Team costumes/outfits/themes/names are highly encouraged and may factor into the final scoring and will probably increase the fun factor for everyone. Teams must travel together in only one (1) vehicle. Team members can quit, but there are no substitutions allowed during the game. \\ The Lists Each team will create a list. This list will consist of between ten and twenty items. Each item on the list will have a point value (whole numbers only) between 1 (one) and thirty-four (34) points. The total points for all items on the list, regardless of how many total items there are, should equal EXACTLY 100 points. The points are assigned by each team at THEIR DISCRETION. Each team will bring 20 copies of their list to the starting line. The team captain's cellphone number will be on the bottom of each team's list in case other teams have questions during the day. Each team will have a copy of EVERY OTHER TEAM'S list. Each team will score by completing items from the other teams lists, and CAN NOT score from their own list. Sharing, in whole or in part, your list with any other team prior to the start time is strictly forbidden. You can download a template for the list here. If you have more than ten items, please use an additional page from this template. If you have any photos, puzzles, clues, etc. that go with your list, please include them on an additional page(s). (please bring 20 copies of your ENTIRE list). \\ The Items Items on each team's list can be just about anything: something you need to find, something you need to do, a place you need to go, something a team hid somewhere, a puzzle, etc. Here's a quick example list if you need something to get you started (please do NOT use any of these items on your list)...
The goal is not to make people drive around spending a lot of money buying stuff. The goal is to make your list challenging, and more importantly, fun. Teams can be as detailed, or as vague, about the items on their list as they want, but since they are also judges, its up to them to determine their standards for scoring. \\ Scoring Each item on each list can be used to score once and only once. If the same item appears on multiple lists, no penalty will be assessed, but the same object can only be used to score once. Some of the items may be events/actions/etc that need to be photographed for evidence. In order for judging to move smoothly, all photographic evidence will need to be presented as a hard copy, so save time do drop off or print your photos somewhere. Each team will act as judge for the items on their list. There must be at least one member available from each team at the end of the game. \\ Penalties For every item on a team's list that goes unrecovered by ANY OTHER TEAM, that team will be given a penalty equivilant to the number of points assigned to that item. If a team's list does not total 100 points, a penalty of the difference will be given. If a team is late arriving to the start or finish of the hunt, there will be a one point penalty for every minute of lateness. \\ The Starting Line All teams will meet by NO LATER THAN 10:45AM PST at the starting line with no less than 20 copies of their team list, $50 in cash, and their entire team:
\\ The Finish Line All teams must arrive by NO LATER THAN 7:00PM PST at the finish line: Mulleady's Pub (Upstairs) 3055 21st Ave West Seattle, WA 98199 \\ The Fine Print The items on the list should be safe, legal, moral, and fun. The items on the team lists are the sole responsibilty of that list's creator(s). Collusion or sharing of lists in whole or in part is strictly forbidden. Jason Forbes takes no responsibility for list items that get people hurt, deported, arrested, fired, divorced, etc. |
